Okay, One problem and One Question

MarsWalker 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 10

All of a sudden I can't run anymore. I don't know why. I've checked and rechecked that I am in good condition and also that I have not got the PSP equipped, I don't. I am a bit encumbered though, is that a thing now? Also I am sending a pic and want to know exactly what the part in red means. I'm not 100% sure. I was outside walking back to a habitat.

Edit: Also, I was gone from habitat one for about maybe 3 days and when I got back every wire was burnt out for my electrical and all three heating elements. I know better than to leave them that long but I definitely thought I was back in time to repair any wear and tear. Is this normal? The broken elements were a jab where it hurts, and also the wires. Not finding many wires.

GREAT! Just started a new game with the recent update and so far, so good. I've just finished 'Prey' and so now, back to Mars. Will report anything weird if it happens.

Random dust storms may have been deactivated?

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 2

In a game which I started in 0.61 then carried over through 0.61.1 and 0.61.2, I'm not getting any random storms in the Big Storm scenario after the initial one, even though I'm now on sol 24 and I'm almost certain that in previous games storms occurred maybe 8-12 sols apart.

Having looked into the .verify files in the save folder, I'm seeing a "dustStormRandomActive = False" line two lines up from the bottom, while in previous saves which I've archived for bug reporting, this line was always "True".

Since I cannot tell if it happened because I carried this save over several versions, or the random storms have been accidentally disabled somehow, I've not posted this as a bug, although even if it was caused by carrying saves over, this feels like something that should not be a problem to keep/restore between version changes so it might worth looking into it anyway.

HUD bobbing is "twitchy"

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 2

The HUD bobbing feature added in 0.61.2 tends to be, for the lack of a better description, "twitching": on top of the normal random smooth "swaying" motion it also jumps small amounts (10-20 pixels, maybe?) in random directions in a non-fluid way. It happens both while in motion and standing still, and I feel as if it's slightly affected by the terrain the player character is standing on, a bit more frequent when standing/moving on slopes.

It also happens very often when left clicking on objects and using Enter or LMB to activate Datapad buttons or select inventory items, resulting, for example, the HUD jittering all around when moving a large number of items quickly between inventory and container.

"Switch to Deposit" icon may be missing when opening containers

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 2

The "Switch to Deposit" icon in a discoverable container's item list is sometimes missing on opening the container the first time, but appears after having closed and reopened the container. Since it's not easy to get a test case for this in regular play and it doesn't seem to happen each and every time a container is opened, I couldn't test which of the below conditions may apply when this actually happens:

  • It's the first container opened since having exited a habitat OR,
  • It's the first container opened in this game session OR,
  • Only happens with certain containers (in the session after which I'm posting this, I got it at a "Downed Satellite" location, but I know I've seen it at other types before).

White line at the bottom of the screen when crouching

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 1

When crouching down while standing still, during the downward movement a white line appears at the bottom of the screen of a moment, then disappears when the fully croached position is reached. It looks as if the new helmet/hud bob is not constrained enough and allowed to lag behind too much before starting to follow the movement of the field of view in this specific case.

It can also happen while moving, but I guess the movement related bobbing dampens it enough so that it very rarely lags enough for that white line to show.

Portable solar panel charging while inside a pop tent

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 1

What the title says. I didn't test if it's the case in both the tent at remote outposts and the self deployed one, but in the self deployed one it does charge.

Double clicking on component slot causes wrong interaction sequence

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 3

When you double click on a component slot not at 99%, the following sequence will occur:

  1. Screen darkens and repair timer starts.
  2. Datapad comes up with the Replace/Repair/Cancel screen without selection shortly after the repair timer started.
  3. When the repair timer is up, timer and screen darkening goes away and Datapad switches to home screen.
  4. At this time, the Datapad can only be dismissed with the E key, it will not react to Esc, but will switch to other screens with their hotkeys. If LMB is clicked without leaving the home screen, the selection highlight will be lost until switching to another screen.
  5. The next time you interact with something, the Datapad will open with the home screen instead of the expected interaction screen of the given object.

If the component slot was at maximum condition, then on duble clicking it the Replace/Repair/Cancel screen may sometimes come up without selection highlight and stay until dismissed with Esc, but this does not happen all the time.

Using LMB to select component to install causes selection highlight to disappear

Mr. Fusion 6 years ago updated by Tyler Owen (Lead Developer) 6 years ago 1

When you use the left mouse button as the "Confirm" input while trying to install a system component, the selection highlight will disappear when the bottom of left side panel switces to the Install/Cancel selection and you need to abort the process by switching to another screen or lowering the Datapad to get it back:

  1. Click on an empty slot you have a suitable component for.
  2. Navigate the selection to "Replace Component", but use LMB to activate it instead of Enter.
  3. (Navigate to the suitable comonent and ) Use LMB to select the component to install.
  4. The selection highlight disappears, as opposed to jumping to the Install option as it would if Enter was used to select the component.
