Is eating supposed to restore Exhaustion?

I felt something being off for a while now regarding exhaustion levels, and after a series of long exploration trips I figured out what it was: Exhaustion level apparently gets significantly improved/reset every time (eg. from Rested/Below Normal.../Below Normal.. to Well Rested/Normal.../Normal...) when eating anything, not even up to full calories count, essentially negating the need to rest for any other purpose than saving the game.

Is this an intended behaviour? If it is, what's the reasoning behind it?

Drinking water seems to improve it also.

Some food items do provide a very small reduction of your exhaustion level, though often at a small expense of your health. Chocolate for example, since it has caffeine. However, it turns out that there was a misplaced decimal for water improving your exhaustion level. It was intended to reduce your exhaustion by 1%, but it is currently reducing it by 10%. As you can see, this is probably why exhaustion is nearly irrelevant if you can reduce your exhaustion by 50% just by drinking 5 waters (enough to bring hydration to full). I've brought this back to the intended 1% just to function as a small "refreshing" effect on your exhaustion. Fix will be in next update.

To be honest, I've never seen a significant impact coming from drinking water (I drink a lot on long trips to keep hydration close to 100% all times, and exhaustion still degrades over time at a somewhat reasonable rate), but eating, even relatively small amounts seems to effectively reset exhaustion state to Well Rested. So I'd say that's the bigger issue here that would need to be (also) looked into.

Hmm, okay. There is nothing in the stat tables that should be making that much of a difference, so it might be somewhere in the code instead. I'll take a look.
