Crafting oxygen filled canister does not drain hab reserve oxygen

When you fill an empty canister with oxygen at the crafting station, the habitat's oxygen reserves are not reduced by the appropriate amount, effectively creating oxygen out of nothing. This creates an exploitable(?) loophole:

  1. Fill empty canisters at the Crafting Station inside the Hab.
  2. Exit the Hab.
  3. On the outdoors version of the airlock room, bring up the suit supply managing screen, and dump most of the suit oxygen into the Hab reserve tank.
  4. Use an oxygen canister to refill your suit.
  5. Repeat steps #3 and #4 until you run out of filled canisters.
  6. Reenter the Hab and start over from step #1... Infinite oxygen without the oxygenator (nor the water reclaimer) running.

Good sploit, never though about it.

Fixed

Crafting an oxygen filled canister will now require 50L of oxygen in the hab reserves. This will be in the update coming in the next couple days or so.

I'm sort of reopening this, as in 0.59 crafting a canister is possible even when you have less than 50 L left in the reserve, down to any non-zero value. When you fill a canister with less than the required amount, you'll still get a full 50 L canister, creating oxygen out of nowhere, and the Hab reserves will show a value around 4.5-4.8 L if checked immediately after having filled one.


When there's more than 50 L in the reserve, the correct amount gets removed.

Yeah, I don't know what happened here, but I've got it fixed now for a patch soon.

Unless the fix requires a new game to take effect (which I didn't start for 0.59.1), this doesn't appear to have been fixed. I can still fill canisters with less than 50L in the reserve in 0.59.1; the crafting plan for the filled canister doesn't disappear from the list like it used to when there's not enough reserve oxygen.

I think what might be happening here is that you might have found a crafting plan for oxygen filled canisters as an item in a supply cache which is making the option to craft one always available. I'm making sure in the next patch that you will not be able to find a crafting plan for oxygen filled canisters as an item.

Right, I'm, 99% sure I did pick up a stand alone plan for it in addition to having found filled canisters prior to that which already enabled making filled canisters.


Yes, I'd say it doesn't really make sense to have a "plan" for filling canisters, so removing it alltogether should work.
